More on Iowa
Howard Kurtz provides a useful roundup.
The MSM apparently is excoriating itself for having ignored Huckabee for so long. What its members don't realize is that their notice -- or their lack of it -- matters not at all to his supporters. They haven't cared about much that's come out in the MSM for quite some time now. Huckabee resonates with them on an emotional level that makes it difficult for the blandishments of other candidates, negative stories from the media, or almost anything else to overcome. The only question is (1) how many of these voters -- who genuinely believe that the former Arkansas governor speaks for them -- there are, and (2) how many other GOP'ers, who recognize the danger Huckabee presents to the Reagan coalition, are willing to vote strategically in order to minimize his impact.
Kurtz also refers to Laura Ingraham's discomfort with the fact that so many Republicans were supporting Obama. My hope is that the phenomenon is accounted for in two ways: First, because coverage of Obama has been overwhelmingly positive with very little coverage of his left-wing policy positions; and second, many Republicans badly wanted to see Hillary lose -- enough to support her strongest rival.

Carol, Dems are always seeking a new messiah. I still expect the GOP to choose Rudy or Fred or both on a ticket in no particular order. MSM have a left black bias. No what is new?

Excellent point, Carol. As Digby notes about the evangelical vote and Huckabee:
They've been voting for religious phonies for a couple of decades now in the hopes that he would advance their religious agenda and represent their values. This time they have the real thing and they know it. And they could not care less what moneyed elites like Chris Matthews and Joe Klein --- or Rush Limbaugh --- think about it.
