You Have Got to be Kidding
The Minneapolis-Star Tribune has killed James Lileks' column and reassigned him to local news (HT: Hugh Hewitt).
What a boneheaded move. In today's Wall Street Journal, Walter Hussman discusses how providing free online news constitutes a disastrous business model for papers.
Interesting how everything seems to come under consideration besides the content of the paper itself. After all, a systemic liberal bias (a la the LA Times) or cancelling the column of one of the country's most talented writers can do a lot to erode a customer base, too. Sometimes free content isn't the problem -- the problem is that the content is worth what the online customers are paying to read it . . .
