Another Wilson Mulligan

In a column correcting a column that's six months old, it's being reported that Nick Kristof writes:

"Wilson has said that he misspoke when he made references to the documents to me and to two other journalists.”

Well, that clears everything up. Maybe Scooter Libby "misspoke" when he offered the accounts that allegedly conflict with those of some other reporters. But for some in the press, it seems that lying's OK, as long as Joe Wilson's the one doing it.

Carol, Carol, Carol. What happened to the person who claimed that Republicans would never minimize the importance of perjury? Don't look now, Ms. Liebau, it appears your pants are on fire.

Scooter isn't accused of "lying." Scooter stands accused of providing false statements to FBI investigators, committing perjury in testimony to the grand jury, and obstructing justice. Scooter did all of those things in an attempt to conceal the complicity of the Vice Presiednt of the United States in leaking the identity of a covert CIA operative.
