The Most Viable Conservative

It's always easy to figure out who the most viable conservative in any race is, because it's the person being attacked most by the MSM.

Here, of course, that means Mitt Romney. What kind of lazy reporting can produce this piece from CBS that insists "the Romney campaign is now shifting gears by borrowing a page from the book of an unlikely candidate: Barack Obama, whose message of change helped him win Iowa’s Democratic contest" ?

A simple google search would reveal that Governor Romney has been talking about change for a long, long time. But that would get in the way of the press narrative, wouldn't it?

After all, neither a "maverick" like John McCain nor an "everyman" like Mike Huckabee has been very effective in achieving change -- or at least change in a conservative direction, as both Mayor Giuliani and Governor Romney have done. But if you like higher taxes and more regulation (along with a healthy dose of sanctimony), it's entirely possible that either McCain or Huckabee could be the ticket; then again, if that's the case, why not just go with Hillary or Barack?

Hey, speaking of viable conservatives...

Does anyone know why Fred Thompson was invited to the Fox news debate tonight while Ron Paul isn't? Last I checked, Paul had a fairly substantial lead over Thompson in the polls of the New Hampshire primary and was actively running in the state. By not allowing the voters in New Hampshire to see all of the viable candidates, isn't Fox news saying, "We'll decide and then report?"

Carol, doesn't this action make it fairly clear that Fox news is nothing more than a propaganda wing of the Republican establishment? Lastly, if Fox News is showing such blatant favoritism and biased coverage on the Republican side, why should any Democratic candidate pretend that Fox is actually a news organization instead of an opposition mouthpiece?
