Reason for Cautious Optimism?
A well-known purveyor of conventional wisdom, Howard Fineman, is offeringa pre-nalysis of what happened if, in fact, the Democrats lose. To me, that's a cautiously optimistic sign for Republicans.
Likewise, the Washington Post's Howard Kurtz likewise is hedging his bets, although -- with a naivete that would, in other circumstances, be somewhat sweet -- he believes that the press is rooting for a Democratic victory just because they welcome the juicy coverage that comes from political conflict. Right.
Even though Republicans appear to have momentum and there's reason for optimism, it's worth remembering that it doesn't matter if we lose by 2 points or 20. That's why it's important to get out and vote.
I've made my GOTV calls. Have you?
