Still a Trump Card?
According to this piece, security issues may still be a trump card for the Republicans.
Indeed, given the fecklessness and opportunism routinely displayed by the Democrats, coupled with a definitive lack of ideas -- where, pray tell, is any kind of input for handling the Iran issue? -- it's hardly surprising that voters would be unable to take them seriously when it comes to national security.

Keep grasping for the silver lining, Carol.
The simple fact is that voters vote on specific issues and not broad generalities. The two foremost specific issues tied to "National Security" banner are Iraq and Terrorism.
You have to go back to mid 2004 to find a consistent set of polls with majority support for the President's personal war of choice. You need to go back almost as far to find a majority that believes launching a pre-emptive attack on Iraq has made us safer with respect to terrorism.
Keep whistling in the dark. The level of self-delusion you demonstrate here was last seen in 1994 on the Democratic side--and we all know how that turned out.
But you'd have to go to Europe or the Mid East to find anyone who thinks the Dems would be a better choice, and you'd still be hard pressed.
