I'm not sure that the "coalition of varied special interest" idea is unique to the Democrats. Their main hope of winning is in depressing GOP voter turnout. And if the kind of voters who are SO mad about XXX--the border, spending, abortion, THEIR key issue--that they plan to stay home, actually do... the Dems will win big.
As we have seen in the last few elections the base is on to this game and they will turn out again, if for no other reason than their understanding that the Democrats are a threat that must be thrashed over and over again. Thrash 'em and trash 'em.

Thrash 'em and trash 'em"Dodger, obviously you can immagine the nightmare and hell we would ALL go through if the dems got back in power. They would trash and thrash this country so fast and so bad,and it would happen because too many on our side of the isle wanted to, "teach" our leaders a, "lesson!" What a lesson that would be, and at EVERYONES expence INCLUDING the dems, all caused by their blindness, rage and hatred towards one man in the White House, and they would be the last ones to know it!
Yet I hear that "teach them a lesson" crapola on the talk shows all the time. I can certainly appreciate their attitude, but staying home is absolutely the wrong response. Deeper understanding of the candidates, more probing questions for them, paying attention in other words, is what will resolve the issue. Staying home will compound our problems. VOTE!
