Declining an Invitation
According to The New York Times, Al Qaeda has released a tape featuring an allegedly American Islamofascist inviting the people of the U.S. to convert to Islam.
With all due respect to the religion itself (as opposed to the people who abuse it for their own violent, totalitarian ends), many Americans will doubtless decline. The question I wish our liberal friends would address is whether they think the Islamofascists will take no for an answer.
After all, the captors of Steve Centanni and Olaf Wiig were most insistent.

The insistence is supported in sections of the Koran and Hadith.
Quite frankly, though I support the noion that one can choose one's own religion and practice it freely, I can't understand a Christian or Jew converting to Islam. It doesn't make sense, unless they were not real students of the faith. And still, even a superficial look would make Islam seem a poor choice. What are they seeing, or worse, not seeing, or worse still, ignoring, that allows them to choose Islam? To be raised in it is one thing, but to sit down and study it and still feel it's the way to go, I find puzzling. Perhaps it's that nonsensical idea that all religions are the same or that all religions get you to the same place? I just don't get it.
I believe Centani and Wiig were raped. It was a spiritual rape. It gives me cold chills.
Of course they did Orphan. Not many would do otherwise. That's cool. I don't know what their plans are, but I'm going to assume they may still wish to cover the news there, and that would explain the lack of public recantation. If they decide NOT to go back, it would be great to see a well publicized press conference on CNN that expresses their true feelings on the matter.
