Wishful Thinking?

This Washington Post profile of Jay Hein, the new director of The White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives, includes this most puzzling passage:

In contrast to his sometimes-flamboyant predecessors, Hein is a "very orderly and businesslike person" who is well-suited to run the faith-based effort for the remaining 18 months of the Bush administration,. . . ."

Say what?

Perhaps the wish is father to the thought, but someone at the Post doesn't seem to realize that, actually, the Bush Administration won't head out of town until January 2009 -- and that's 30 months away, not 18.

Given a sweep of Democrats into power in the US Congress I think the impeachment will be moving forward enough by jan 08 for President Bush to do the "honorable" thing and resign leaving an indicted Dick Cheney no option but to hand the Oval Office to Nancy Pelosi.

Now who would she pick for Vice President? A senator from new York maybe? Then resign for health reasons? How's Clinton Obama '08 sound?

It's nice to have dreams. A Cavalor belongs to that biggest bunch of dreamers, the libs.

The writer dreams that the next prez, despite the party, would bounce this guy or his office.
