Plaming Out
Christopher Hitchens lays out, chapter and verse, why no reasonable person can continue to believe that a Bush partisan "leaked" Valerie Plame's name.
Just another reason the Wilson/Plames are either dumb or delusional to try to prolong their 15 minutes of fame with a meritless lawsuit.

They're elitists. How can they possibly ever be wrong? When you are perfect in everyway, and have all the solutions to all ills in the world, then anyone that gets in your way must pay.
Those that outed her as a retributive act are patriots. How can they ever be wrong? When you are perfect in every way, and have all the solutions to all ills in the world, then anyone that gets in your way must pay.
COPioneer & Carol, you have hit the nail on the head.
The Wilson/Plames pair are dumb, delusional, and elitist ...... and they are in for another big fall.

Some where along the way Hitchens has gone mad. Full on wind and little substance. It is not so much what Hitchens claims to be his unique ability of deciding truth rather, his convient refusal to acknoweldge his lack of actual proof and he refuses to consider the high probablility of other scenarios, findings and explanations that would be more reasonable and logical then his theories.
When a person such as Hitchens starts out to prove a conclusion that he desires, he can fool even himself.
As to Novak, I'll leave him to Fitzgerald.
It is IMPOSSIBLE for me to believe that the lefties really care about, "Miss Plame" and her silly husband. It's all political and that's the truth!
"they outed Miss Plame,"!
"they outed Miss Plame,"!
Ain't it awful!!! Republicans are soooo evil!
Cliff, doesn't care if presidents mislead Americans about the reason they are going to war. Cliff is willing to die for the president and never question why.
Yup!
Cliff writes: "It is IMPOSSIBLE for me to believe that the lefties really care about, "Miss Plame" and her silly husband. It's all political and that's the truth!"
And Cliff, it is impossible that the reich-wingers cared about Mary Cheney being outed by John Kerry. That was thoroughly political but that fact did nothing to mitigate the apoplectic outrage of a party that, had she not been the VP's daughter, would just as soon have banished her from society.
Another example of hypocrisy from the right. Their outrages are legit; everyone else's are s__t.
Cliff, I'm with you guy!!
The VP's daughter was "outed" by John Kerry as a cheap shot to the Christian church, in a lame attempt to appeal to "self righteous" believers. His hope was that Christian "snobs" would hold it against the Bush administration and sit out the vote.
The righties scream about the treasonous NYT and impeaching a president who lied about sex but when the coin is flipped. They lie and spin.
Duke is correct the hypocrisy is pathetic.
I must also add that it was
John Kerry who used The VP's daughter, and was willing to let her get trashed for his cheap political gain. Where's the
compassion in that?
Cliff,
Didn't Mary Cheney just write a book about herself? Hmm.
As stated before the hypocrisy is pathetic.
It went completely over his
head!
It was Dick Cheney, in direct contradiction to George Bush’s policy on gays and lesbians, who first came out and discussed his daughter's sexuality publicly while campaigning for George Bush. Lynne and Mary Cheney have both publicly discussed the fact that Mary is a lesbian while campaigning. As they say in court, they opened the door, and John Kerry had every right to comment on this in the context that he did.
Mary Cheney was employeed as manager of Coors’s corporate relations for the gay and lesbian market, and has done public bar tours to promote Coors's beer to that market. She currently is paid a six figure salary to work on the Bush / Cheney Campaign. So she isn't just a daughter, she's a highly paid member of the Bush Election Campaign.
It was George Bush who said that he wanted to pass a constitutional amendment banning gay and lesbian marriage, not John Kerry. You may also recall that in an attempt to get the gay and lesbian vote it was Dick Cheney who first publicly discussed that his daughter Mary is a lesbian while campaigning. George Bush, Dick Cheney, Lynne Cheney, and Mary Cheney can’t have it both ways. If they want to use Mary Cheney as a prop in an attempt to gain support from gay and lesbian voters, then John Kerry had a right to discuss her sexual preference in the limited capacity in which he did.
Cliff. Bush and Company used Valerie Plame and were not only willing but hoping that she and her husband would be trashed for their extremely deadly political agenda.
The big difference is that they ended a career while Kerry launched one.
Valerie and her husband outed their own selves for
their own selfesh purposes,
and made themselves more important than they really
were.
Kerry has a career?
Kerry launched Mary Cheney's career. Rove and his underling Bush sought to exact revenge on Joe Wilson by outing Plame. Her career being destroyed was icing on the cake.
You contend that the two outed themselves and along the way made themselves more important than they really were. I consider an important man one who correctly attempts to show that my president was knowingly using false intelligence to lead us into a deadly boondoggle.
doesn't care if presidents mislead Americans about the reason they are going to war.
I'm sorry, could you reiterate why YOU think we did, Mr. Head?
eLarson,
It is common public knowledge.
Gemma,
I try to make a point to check out any blogs written by commenters on the various blogs I like to read.
I really enjoyed your blog. Your writing is a pleasure to read.
Please keep it up!
Greg, have you checked out mine?
duke-stir,
So are you supposed to be from the "reality-based" community?
If so, what explains your continued insistence on relying on falsehoods?
Wilson's actual report was very different from what he described in his Times Op-Ed piece. As was found by the Senate committee that actually looked into this (as opposed to yourself who seems most comfortable using it merely to make analogies to Mary Cheney) Wilson's actual report bolstered the view that the Iraqi regime was seeking uranium in Niger.
Either that or goats.
So for the reality-based community, when the Iraqi minister met with the Niger official to discuss expanding trade opportunities, does that mean that Iraq had a shortage of goat meat?

Apologies for the double.
Won't happen again.
duke and ditto don't like Hitchens because he isn't left enough.
Marshall,
Hitchen has been politically all over the map, even far left on issues. He affectionately embraces Trotsky and Marxism.
