Joe Wilson & "The French Connection"

An intriguing theory. Read this piece.

Quoting from the piece Carol recommended,

Enter our hero, Joseph C. Wilson, from stage left. The French forgery about Niger led straight to Wilson’s bogus trip to Africa. Wilson supposedly went there to find out the truth for the CIA. But every government involved already knew the truth about the bogus document, because it showed incorrect names of Niger officials. A single telephone call to Niger would have established that fact. [highlight mine--mr.t.]

Let us review the timeline.

November 20, 2001--Niger forgeries first put forward to CIA.

February 13, 2002--Vice President Dick Cheney tasks CIA to determine accuracy of Niger report.

February 26, 2002--Joseph Wilson arrives in Niger.

January 28, 2003--President Bush announces in the State of the Union address that British Intelligence had learned that Saddam Hussein attempted to obtain uranium from Africa.

If the American Thinker article that Carol recommended is correct, it provides evidence that President Bush knowingly misled the nation in his 2003 State of the Union address. If, as its author claims, every government involved already knew the truth about the bogus document prior to Joe Wilson's trip in February 2002, why did the President claim the opposite in January of 2003?

So which is it--is the American Thinker article a load of bull puckey or did President Bush intentionally mislead the nation into going to war?

Carol, you may want to rethink this vendetta that you are waging against Joe Wilson. This is not the first time that in attempting to smear the ambassador that you have made yourself look silly.
