An Obtuse MSM

The Washington Post's Terry Neal comes in for quite a lashing from the normally mild-mannered Hugh Hewitt, and deservedly so, even as Hugh puts on his constitutional law hat and explains the respective roles of the state and federal governments in our federalist system.

The problem for every "voice of reason" like Hugh is this: It is easier for the press to make wild and unsubstantiated assertions than to do the hard work of explaining how, when and why the federal government's role doesn't extend to the exercise of "police powers." And given the patent anti-Bush bias of the press, it's clear they have no incentive even to attempt the task.

And so half the country will remain stubbornly outraged, clinging to their righteous fury at President Bush to get them through the night. The other half -- the half that doesn't exclusively depend on the MSM for its news and information -- will understand the issues at stake.

Has it ever occurred to anyone that America might be so "divided" because the press simply isn't doing its job?

Carol, I hate to tell you but the MSM is doing "its job."

Of course in "its mind", "its job" is to be an unofficial mouthpiece of Liberalism. --> And they are doing this at a top-notch level.

You do have to wonder if MSM and liberals in general really DO believe all of the garbage the are spewing. Do they REALLY think that President Bush doesn't care about black people?! It seems that they have to know that they are simpling slinging political mud. Can they really be THAT self-deluded??? More thougths on my blog brelevant.blogspot.com.

Just keep apologizing for the incompetence of your leader...that will absolve him of all responsibility. You're right after all, he should not be held accountable for the appointment of an incompetent crony to lead FEMA. The President was right after all when he stated that "Brownie" is doing a great job. With Bush's standards for greatness apllied across the board, we'll be just like Lake Woebegone...where everyone is above average.
