Something Rotten in the State of N.J.

That would be some of the stories following U.S. Senator Jon Corzine as he begins his run for governor -- and how!

Just five weeks before announcing, he invested $7 million in a firm controlled by one of New Jersey's casino operators. This, despite the clear prohibitions of New Jersey law on governors maintaining financial interests that pose a "reasonable risk of the public perception of a conflict of interest" with gambling companies.

And then, it comes out that he gave $470,000 to his former girlfriend, who just happens to be the president of the largest state-employees union local.

Talk about getting your ducks in a row . . .. At any rate, it's clear that Corzine doesn't have the best record for playing by the rules when it comes to conflict of interest matters.
