The Nub of the Problem
Daniel Henninger points out an ugly fact that no federal politician will ever want to "reform." The problem isn't that naughty lobbyists are heartlessly leading the innocent lambs of Congress astray. Rather, the problem is that the federal government has become so all-powerful and intrusive into almost every aspect of American life that it's become a necessary evil for interests of all kinds -- legitimate or not -- to try to curry favor with it.

If some constitutional scholar ever finds a way to get term limits on a national ballot, it will pass overwhelmingly. Getting rid of elite, career politicians and back to citizen public servants is the only way I see to rid us of a steadily more intrusive federal ball and chain.
