The People To Thanks

Investors Business Daily provides an important reminder: The people the left has despised (Bush and Blair) have been right in recognizing the deadly, ongoing nature of the terrorist threat, and the means they've sought to use (wiretapping, tracking financial transactions) have been necessary and good.

One things that should be highlighted is that the British used law enforcement means to catch the terrorists. The same law enforcement that you, Carol, and your yippy-yap lapdog chorus have continually derided as unfruitful and unserious. This serves to remind us that your right wing masters were totally and completely wrong in this regard.

Another thing that should be highlighted is that the British use of wiretapping/tracking financial transactions/etc. was authorized with the appropriate warrants issued in the standard manner. The lesson here is that unlike your previous claims, Carol, a Chief Executive does not need to order others to break the law in order to stop terrorists.

Finally, this serves as an important reminder as to the complete vacuity of the right wing's Fight them over there so we don;t have to fight them over here mantra. The 2500+ American lives and $500 billion lost in this President's war of choice in Iraq, has not made anyone of us appreciably safer.

Yes, Carol, this is an important reminder that all of the war-mongering, militaristic, extra-legal means you have been a shill for have been proven to be unnecessary.

Fortunately, the American Public is finally waking up to this fact.

Yep, all we need do is use law enforcement a la Bill Clinton and Jamie Gorelick used it. Were defending us left to their paradigm, "the wall" would still be in place prohibiting data sharing between agencies, so maybe the Brits and Pakastanis would have gotten no help from us to intercept messages. Well, we could always use Ouija Boards instead.

Various news accounts say the NSA and Pakastani intelligence were responsible for helping the Brits catch the Pakastani "go" signal to the terror cells in UK. The NSA is a Defense Department agency, not "law enforcement." And the same leftists who complained vociferously about Bush not "connecting the dots" also moaned to high heaven about NSA intercepts, which, contrary to more yippy-yap leftist lapdog barking, have never been ruled illegal. (Yippy-yap leftist lapdog allegations do not make anything illegal.)

And why would anyone think Clinton was tossing cruise missiles (e.g., "wag the dog") around to distract from his own problems? Just because Monica Lewinsky's name was on the public's lips the first time, and Bubba's impeachment vote was the same day the second time? Pshaw! (Incidentally, those "wag the dog" attacks were on Iraq, not on getting bin Laden.)

Investors earned dividends at the same time Bill Clinton was asserting that oral sex wasn't "sex" at all and that he wasn't really "alone" with Monica, because others were in the White House at the same time. One has no bearing on the other. Clinton's amorality (one psychiatrist labelled it "sociopathy") didn't influence our choice of investments, but polls showed school kids thought oral sex wasn't "sex" at all after Clinton put forth that view.

Yep, 9/11 happened on Bush's watch. And how many times before that did bin Laden's acolytes' terrorism kill Americans, during Clinton's watch, that were responded to weakly and ineffectively, when serious responses could have deterred, captured or killed bin Laden? How much in blood and treasure has Clinton's unwillingness to tackle al Qaeda head on cost us during the Bush administration?

Yeah, don't hold your breath, editor.

And how about a comparison, civil rights wise, between the British and Pakastani ways of law-enforcement and ours.
