British Terror Plot

My twin brother, sister-in-law and baby niece fly frequently between London and New York, which makes the news about the attempted terror plot even more chilling. The inimitable Lorie Byrd has the complete round-up.

It's worth wondering whether the New York Times and those on the left who agree with its position on the war are going to express concern about whether British authorities "eavesdropped" on the suspects. Did they tap their phones? Intrude on their "privacy" in any way? Of course, if they were in the UK rather than the US, than our constitutional guarantees don't apply, but one would expect the same standard of morality to be applied notwithstanding.

Events like this are a signal reminder of why it's a bad idea to reveal classified, secret programs that are designed to inhibit or prevent terrorism before it happens.

For my part, this thwarted plot is a reminder of why the government needs to be able to have access to programs that help them access information about threats like these -- and thwart them.

They do those sneak-n-peak searches in the UK, according to a security expert I heard this morning.

As for me, I'm not "terrified". I'm determined.

There is an enemy. Do you believe that, Editor? Do you believe that, Wrabkin?

They have been engaged in war with us for decades. Do you believe that?

If so, what should we do? The Democrats have been asked this same question for years. To date, there has been no response.
