And Finally . . .
Here's where it all started -- the Declaration of Independence.
And here are all the words to our national anthem -- including the rarely-heard final verse:
Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved home and the war's desolation!
Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust."
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
God bless America.

We get it already. You hate America.
Throughout this holiday, you never even once came up with a "yea, but" scenario where you pointed out anything good about America (yea) and then pointed out something we need to improve upon (but).
You always go straigt to the but (sp).
All four of my grandparents were immigrants. They came here to escape the wretched poverty and antisemitism of eastern Europe. Once here they went to night school and learned to be Americans. They are typical!
As a Jew I gladly say Thank G-d for the first country where I can be both an American and a Jew without those words being in contradiction.
G-d Bless America
Flom, have you reflected on how the Republican Party of not that long ago was steeped in anti-Semitism? (And deep in the Bible Belt, still is.)
>>...have you reflected on how the Republican Party of not that long ago was steeped in anti-Semitism?>>
Make up your minds, for heaven's sake...last I heard, the Republican Party was being excoriated for being pro-Israel because they were controlled by the Neo-con Jews.
Besides, it really doesn't matter how someone _feels_ about Jews, or even Negros. What matters is how they are treated _legally_, not whether you choose to invite them for dinner.

You touch on an interesting point, suek. There are many fundies who simultaneously support the nation of Israel as part of God's plan but harbor resentment for her tribe, who killed Jesus.
And as for your last point, I disagree. Though it is true that how we treat others legally is paramount, what lies in the heart is also important.
"Negros?" Are you 80?

Duke-stir --HUH??? I don't see HOW you make that jump. Currently the Democratic Party is awash in anti-zionist anti-semetic philosophy. If it isn't Bush's fault, then it must be Israel.
The Christian right is the reason we have the freedom we have today. I thank G-d for them!
I tried to make a non-political statement, but you had to drag it into your pathetic partisan politics.
>> "Negros?" Are you 80?>>
You're right...my memory is failing...
That should have been "Negroes"...

Oh, Flom, if you thank Jehovah for the tolerance of fundamentalist Christians, you are sorely misled.
I grew up in a fundie church and know all too well that, for the MOST PART -- there are always exceptions to EVERYTHING -- they have a deep-seated contempt for anyone who doesn't know Jesus is their savior and that goes triple for those who KNOW he's NOT.
Here's but a taste...http://www.jewsonfirst.org/06b/indianriver.html
And suek, you really are a relic.
