What's Next for Lieberman

Joe Lieberman has announced that he will petition to run as an independent should he lose the Democratic primary to leftist Ned Lamont.

Good -- every Republican in Connecticut should have his or her name on the Lieberman petition. By all means, vote Republican in the general election, but it would be shameful to stand idly by as one of the few Democrats who's actually taken a principled and consistent stance on the war is defeated by a wacko.

Worst case, Lamont wins the general. But with Lieberman in the race, that result becomes much less likely.

As long as Lieberman stays in the race, even as an Independent, whack-job Lamont will stay in Westport, Connecticut. Lamont's ONLY claim to fame is that he opposes the Iraq war. B_D! So does Alec Baldwin - does that make him Senatorial material? Not!!!

The sticky dilemma for the Democrats is that they have to appease two factions in their party. If they want the funding, they have to appease the waco-lunatic left, but if they want the votes they need to appeal to the center of their party. Since neither of the two groups can give them enough votes to win an election, they'll be torn apart. This will eventually lead to their downfall and distruction.

A wacko. Well, thanks, Carol, for elevating the discourse again.

I say to Sen. Lieberman, come to the right side, the Republican side. You may be too liberal than I would like, but you would not be as bad as so-called "Republican" Sen. Lincoln Chafee(R-RI). You are a man of principle and are not afraid to take on the whackjobs in your present party. We can use more people of principle on our side and show that the once great Democrat party is now totally a socialist fantasyland.

The Democrat Party is disintegrating before our eyes! It baffles me that their leaders are in denial of this. Susan Estrige said recently that the Democrat Party needs to get, MEANER if it wants to start winning elections.
Wow! What a strategy!

If one follows Carol's logic, as an independent he would split the vote with the republican not the democratic candidate.

The ideological purity thing worked fabulously for McGovern, didn't it?
