Important Information

As details emerge, it seems increasingly clear that there were, indeed, WMD's in Iraq -- and some still may be there. Here is an unclassified report.

If this turns out to be the case, it will be difficult to understand why this information was not disclosed earlier, before the impression formed in much of the public mind -- aided and abetted by the war's opponents at home -- that there were never WMD's in Iraq.

Likewise, if Senator Rick Santorum knew about this, how many Democratic senators did, too -- and still deliberately allowed misinformation to flourish in order to drive down support for the war and for President Bush?

Update: Here's more:

The official said the findings did raise questions about the years of weapons inspections that had not resulted in locating the fairly sizeable stash of chemical weapons. And he noted that it may say something about Hussein's intent and desire. The report does suggest that some of the weapons were likely put on the black market and may have been used outside Iraq.

Yes, it seems amazing that the administration didn't trot out photos of all these caches, doesn't it?

It sounds to me like something that got typed up shortly after one of Cheney's meetings with his analysts. You know, the daily Vice Presidential briefings? The ones where he briefs the analysts?

The actual link to the "convincing" document is here:

(Negroponte's name is misspelled in the address of the correct link.)

Note that the only thing the letter claims coalition forces actually found was "500 weapons munitions." Meaning what? Five hundred musty canisters of "DEGRADED" agents?

I think it was well worth our one trillion dollars (not including billions upon billions of equipment that has been run into the ground) and the lives of TWO THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED-plus American men and women (not including those of tens of thousands of Iraqis). Don't you?

This isn't new news......These shells have been known for a long time.

By the way, what in the world are "Islam Ringtones?" (in the random add above your post.)

When someone calls do you get the sound of a knife going through an infidel's neck........Or is it the screams of the infidel?

Or maybe the screams of the 72 virgins being raped.

Just a question.

Carol,

It always pays to check your sources rather than rushing in yelling "I told you so".

Defense Department Disavows Santorum’s WMD Claims

The link is from Think Progress, a progressive blog site. However there is a link there to view a Fox broadcast where Santorum is informed of his mistake.

You'd better edit your article and tell people of the mistake. That's what I'd do if something similar happened to a blog post I had made.

This is why I read blogs. They are a great balancing agent for those trying to spin public opinion.

Sure, it was much easier in the days when you simply digested the news that was spoon fed to you. And sometimes it gets frustrating (and it's always time consuming) having to dig, check links, consider the sources, and all that.

But it's kind of fun, too!

maybe not new news, and WMD is not the be all end all of why we must fight the Islamic jihadists. Though they would love to use WMD against any country they disagree with.

It's a small victory for the left wing to disprove any of the reasons for not just sitting at home with our heads in the sand.

I'm sorry I meant to say, sitting at home and raising the minimum wage and taxes.

Ditto:

You can't have it both ways. In this very same thread you've accused Santorum of rehashing "old news" and of lying.

Which is it? Old news, but true? Or a lie?

Seems like you've been struggling lately, Ditto. Have you recently quit smoking or something?

"Rick lying about old news."

So are you now saying that Santorum is lying and that no chemical weapons were found in Iraq?

Are you sure you want to stand on that statement, Ditto?
