National Day of Prayer

Today is America's National Day of Prayer.

As the Rev. Dr. Billy Graham points out here, "Since our earliest years as a nation our leaders have called us to prayer, especially during times of crisis. Throughout our history prayer has been an important part of our national life because we have realized that we need God's wisdom and guidance."

It's a wonderful day to pray for our soldiers, all those in authority and all who love this country. And, of course, to be grateful for America and all it stands for -- past, present and future.

Our national hymn is "God of Our Fathers", and ever since I've been a little girl, the second verse has been my favorite:

Thy love divine
Hath led us in the past,
In this free land
By Thee our lot is cast;
Be Thou our ruler,
Guardian, guide, and stay,
Thy Word our law,
Thy paths our chosen way.

That's right! We have a National Hymn and a Day of Prayer! How offensive to the pagans and heathens! Where's the ACLU?!! How can this be?!! Oh, the horror!!!

This has been a sarcastic swipe at lib buffoons. Thank you.
