The Ugly Truth
Here is another wonderful column by Jon Stossel -- for my money, the most morally courageous television journalist working today (and also, I proudly note, a fellow former alumnus of The Daily Princetonian).
The piece outlines the manifold failures of our government-run school system.
And it just had me thinking: As I noted below, Molly Ivins and other lefties of her ilk want "single payer health care" -- where the government would, essentially, control the health care system.
Look at the schools, read Stossel's articles -- and then decide if anyone sane can conclude that the government performs better than the private sector.

Always hard to argue with facts.
Stossel is quickly moving up my my chart behind Sowell and Williams on "market" issues.
The romantic notion that reporters can "make a difference" in the world has been so poluted in recent decades because MSM reporters by and large stopped "speaking truth to power". Instead they've been reduced to getting their "speaking truth" fix by bashing all things conservative and enshrining all things liberal.
John Stossel's reporting on the performance of primary and secondary education in the United States may indeed make a difference - a real difference.
You go, John.
Major education reform is coming ...
