Carol Platt Liebau: Selective Regret

Selective Regret

EJ Dionne mourns the retirement of "liberal Republican" Sherwood Boehlert.

Funny, I don't seem to recall the same wailing and gnashing of teeth when the conservative Democrats go . . . or even support for conservative Democrats currently serving like Sen. Joe Lieberman or Rep. Jim Cooper. Doesn't seem like conservative Democart Sen. Ben Nelson of Nebraska receives quite the loving coverage of Republican "maverick" John McCain or retired Republican "moderate" Sen. John Danforth.

Wonder why that is?

Selective Regret?!? What is this junk, Carol? The top secret, classified, untranslated Saddam documents have been released, and you wrote nothing about it.

Surely you remember, those secret, classified Saddam documents that would "corroborate the claims of the Bush administration" about WMD in Iraq? The ones you posted about here, here, and here (just three examples from a rather tedious collection). Those selfsame documents whose release you clamored for.

I wonder why you forgot to mention the documents were released? Maybe, just maybe, it's because they clearly demonstrate that you have once again lead your readers down the rabbit hole. If they read the summary found here they will see that all of the documents that you hyped to high heaven proved nothing except that Saddam didn't have WMD.

2300+ lives and $400 billion for what? Non-existent WMD feeding a President's personal war of choice.

Now, that is something to regret.

Carol--just out of curiousity--does it ever get old being proven wrong time and time again? (The top-secret Saddam papers being just the latest insult to your readers' collective intelligence.) I realize there must be some ego boost to knowing that Greg and Pete and Copioneer and Bachbone and others of their ilk are going to swallow whatever you write, no matter how asinine and counter-factual, but a couple of years in, doesn't it get the slightest bit tedious?

What's tedious is the ONLY item twister hangs his hat on is WMD. It's as if he exists to prove Saddam is some sort of a compassionate caring dictator that murdered 1,000,000+ lives.

I wonder why Saddam didn't comply with all of the UN resolutions if he had nothing to hide? Well, it's clear that twister will believe anything Saddam says is true.

It's clear to anyone that Saddam would have loved to have gotten his mitts on a nuke. Now, come to the defense of Iran. Game, set, match...as you like to say - nee-ner nee-ner.

Off topic, attack, attack, attack comments, such as a couple above, sure help demonstrate the deep thinking, erudite, superiority of our leftist friends, don't they?

Guess I'll wipe the chicken feathers outta my hair, clean the manure off'n my clodhoppers and grab some grub with the wife 'n kids afore settlin' in for a little American Idol with the rest of the tedious, redneck, dumbbells.

Bachbone, I'll stop posting "off-topic" posts when Carol starts 'fessing up to the fact that she lies on a regular basis. She makes huge issues out of meaningless pieces of flotsam and jetsam, and then is nowhere to be found when the major deals are proven to be piles of poo.

It is surprising that you continually come to the defense of a person who has as her mission feeding you steaming piles of poo. Of course, you have your knife and fork in hand and your napkin tucked in your collar.

Bon appetit.

Copioneer the Dimmer writes, "What's tedious is the ONLY item twister hangs his hat on is WMD."

Funny how you never take Carol to task for posting so extensiviely on the topic of WMD. Whereas my posts are based on evidence and congruence with reality, Carol seems bound and determined to treat you like poo gobbling idiots.

Despite Bachbone's apparent inferiority complex, I never ever insult your intelligence by deliberately lying to you.

It's time to raise the level of debate here. The ad hominem attacks are getting old, and this site is not going to countenance bathroom language. Every comment is posted and left in its original form, but that policy will change if the abuse of it continues.

Consider a word to the wise to be sufficient.

Debate and disagreement are welcome. Foolishness and insults are not.

Carol,

Does the word p_o (rhymes with loo, or is that dirty too?) really distress you? If so, how have you managed lo these many years to navigate your way through this world?

Another word to the wise: raising the level of debate around here might be facilitated by refraining from calling people "barking moonbats," whatever that is supposed to mean. Such names are immature, ad hominem, and definitely qualify as "foolishness" and "insults."

Commenting ON-topic, this is the kind of post that makes me wonder if you really do live in a fantasy world. Do you really believe that Republicans are not similarly inclined to treat their too-liberal GOP colleagues (I believe your term is RINO) as pariahs, while lavishing their ideological twins across the aisle (Zell Miller comes to mind) with praise?

Really, get out of the bubble now and then.

If you want to raise the level of debate, then you can start by not treating your readers as idiots.

Very true. Come to think of it, her original post here does convey a lack of appreciation for her readers' intellect. Either that, or she truly is in the clouds.
