Is the Same Thing Happening Here?
It's wrong for any cartoonist gratuitously to slander a faith. But obviously, the Muslim reaction to a drawing of Muhammed is over the top. A free press can offend, but it shouldn't be threatened with physical harm for doing so.
Even so, intimidation in all its forms is ugly, and it appears that an unbecoming fear of unsettling certain sensibilities has extended as far as Dallas. If so, how shameful -- given that the documentary at issue doesn't even seem to have the same potential for giving visceral offense that the challenged cartoon did.

Christians have endured inaccurate portrayals of their faith for decades. They've protested, they've boycotted, they've tried to convince TV Stations and movie theaters not to air shows.
This is all true. But you don't see Christians threatening murder and carrying out those threats when someone dares to defy their requests for cencorship.
The linked story does not indicate any threat of violence. But there is a long, documented history of such violence from the followers of Islam. That makes this story very ominous indeed.
Will American media stand up to the bullying tactics of Islamists like they stand up against Christian or other socially concervative organizations? Will anyone stand up?
As bad as I hate what the Main Stream Media does regarding religious and social issues, I realize that everyone is free to express whatever opinion they wish in almost any form they desire.
You combat inaccuracies and distortions with your own free expression of your ideas on the subject. You don't block the other side from airing their views.
Let the public decide which side they believe.
Something quite obvious that I haven't heard anyone say, is that the Muslims behaving with violence are perfectly reaffirming the truth of the cartoon. But their eyes have been blinded from the truth.
What has the Islamic community done to affirm that they are a "peaceful religion"?
