Depressing for the Democrats

Don't be looking for a lot of seasonal cheer on the left. How depressing it must be to have worked so hard to undermine public morale and support for the war and then find that, after all that hard work, there are poll numbers like these:

* 61 percent of Americans believe there are still WMD's hidden in Iraq or that there had been WMDs in the country but that they were destroyed or moved. Only 28 percent agree that Iraq had no WMDs.

* 52 percent to 27 percent, Americans believe that "the world would be worse off if the U.S. military had not taken action in Iraq and Saddam Hussein were still in power." By 59-20, they feel Iraq would've been worse off if we hadn't acted.

Dick Morris believes that Democrats may make large gains in the 2006 and 2008 elections. Given his track record as of late, good economic news, these poll numbers, and the Democrats' lack of an Iraq policy (except for their cut-and-run usual), I'm not so sure.

Your first post has been deleted, because no profanity is going to be tolerated on this site.

I've kept your second one -- it's a pretty revealing commentary on not only your intellect, but your state of mind, too.

For the record, please note that in the future, you are free to disagree with me -- but slurs are not welcome here, including those against (as you term it) "the retarded."

It is a testament to the power of repetition. Repetition of specious claims that over time have become so heavily embedded into the American consciousness that it will probably take as many years of pointing out their fallacy to set the record straight.

Unfortunately, few Americans are listening anymore.

P.S. Meljoy, your childishness is better suited to Rush Limbaugh's brand of "discourse" (ie. making fun of people by mispronouncing their names, etc.). And your photo is worse. Go away.

Duke-stir, All I've heard from the MSM is that Bush lied about WMD and that there wasn't any. So I don't think your theory holds water. Also, 1 million dead Kurds would probably disagree if they could. My understanding is they have found tons of weapons including chemical weapons...maybe your definition of WMD is just different. And BTW, I have the best picture... Carol, don't change yours, you are gorgeous.

Carol,

Kudos on how you deal with the occasional commenter who is obviously miserable in his/her own life and determined to spread the misery to others. Keep up your good work (and picture).

Kirkill, you are right. The question was ambiguous. Either that, or the 61% is a combination of those who said there were ONCE WMDs that were destroyed and those who said there ARE. They do that sometimes, fuse together the percentages from two different groups to make the number seem larger.

You do have a great picture, by the way. And yes, Carol is pretty.

Look hard enough and you're bound to find a number that gives you some hope....

As I've stated before, throwing out one number (from one poll or economic statistics) is not a great indicator of reality. Additionally the poll question is a VERY indirect indicator of public support for the war in Iraq.

Bush gained public support for this war because he all but convinced the public that Saddam was responsible for 9/11 and that we were in imminent threat of a WMD attack.

9/11 was still fresh in the minds of a confused and frightened country that was very naive to these issues. We were ripe for being misled and we were.

No one except you and some of your loyal followers believe this line of argument anymore Carol.

By the way, your picture is fine. It's your mind I'm more concerned about.
