Snowball and "Pet" to be Reunited

At at time when so many humans are suffering so terribly, it's a testament to how much so many of us love our dogs that the story of a young boy being forced to part with his little white dog, Snowball, during an evacuation from New Orleans struck particular pain into so many hearts.

Well, here's blessed news. Snowball has been found in Louisiana -- thanks to the generosity of those who donated and searched for the dog -- and will be reunited with the young boy soon.

Until Sir Winston, our very determined, opinionated and devoted Westie, entered my life, I never understood the depth and profundity of the bond that could exist between people and dogs. But as, admittedly, a wholly-owned subsidiary of "Winston, Inc.", I do now. Truly, we are our dogs' pets as much as they are ours -- and it's a real blessing to know that these two beings are going to have a joyful reunion, even in the midst of the heartache all around.

God bless the people who helped reunite them.

Based on recent stories, Snowball was not found. That the initial press reports were wrong. Please check into this.
I hope they find this dog for the boy's sake.

Please read the following. Although USA Today, MSNBC, etc. had reported that Snowball had been found (and you wrote about this), here's info from Sept. 15:

Despite recent media reports to the contrary, one of the symbols of Hurricane Katrina, the tiny white dog Snowball, is still missing...
One statement by US Department of Agriculture veterinarian Terry Conger claimed that "Snowball had been found at a branch of the Louisiana Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Gonzalez, Louisiana, and would be returned to his owner".
Another report by USA Today stated that the small white dog, taken by police from the sobbing little boy as he and his family were boarding a bus at the Superdome, had been located.
It seems both reports were inaccurate. And according to Katrinafoundpets.com, launched by Jean Jones of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, to help connect lost pets like Snowball with their owners, Snowball is still missing.
