More on Cindy Sheehan
Note to MSM: This is not a typical grieving mom. Although everyone should sympathize with her pain, she is accountable for her statements, and some of them are, frankly, unconscionable. Sheehan is, in fact, a sympathizer of Lynne Stewart, the lawyer convicted of giving aid and comfort to the terrorists (HT: Best of the Web).
Here is a transcript of remarks Sheehan made at a pro-Stewart rally, co-sponsored by groups like the National Lawyers Guild and the International Socialist Organization. And here is an excerpt:
I was raised in a country by a public school system that taught us that America was good, that America was just. America has been killing people, like my sister over here says, since we first stepped on this continent, we have been responsible for death and destruction. I passed on that b******t to my son and my son enlisted. I’m going all over the country telling moms: “This country is not worth dying for."
She ended up with this: "We need a revolution and make it be peaceful and make it be loving and let’s just show them all the love we have for humanity because we want to stop the inhumane slaughter."
Yes, she sounds ready to show everyone lots of love. Not that anyone can blame her -- it's hard even to fathom the depth of her grief and loss. But she is a grown woman, and it's beginning to be past time to hold her accountable for what she says, even as we sympathize with her sorrow and recognize her right to be as misguided and outrageous as she wants.

Carol -
And we should start holding Bush, Rove, Ashcroft, Rice, Rumsfield, DeLay, Cheney, Libby, Abrahmaoff, Ari, Scotty, et al. accountable for what they have said.
They need to come clean and admit their mistakes; admit their lies.
"And so I don't think our troops ought to be used for what's called nation-building" - GWBush
"I'm not so sure the role of the United States is to go around the world and say this is the way it's got to be" - GWBush
"Victory means exit strategy, and it’s important for the president to explain to us what the exit strategy is." -- Bush criticizing President Clinton on not setting a timetable for troops in Kosovo, 4/9/99
"I think it’s also important for the president to lay out a timetable as to how long they will be involved and when they will be withdrawn." -- Bush, again criticizing Clinton, 6/5/99
"It doesn’t make any sense to have a timetable. You know, if you give a timetable, you’re — you’re conceding too much to the enemy." -- Bush on Iraq, 6/24/05
"I'm going to be judicious as to how to use the military. It needs to be in our vital interest, the mission needs to be clear, and the exit strategy obvious." -- Bush, in response to a question from Jim Lehrer, 10/12/00.
Carol has misrepresented Sheehan's remarks. Sheehan said: I'm going all over the country telling moms: "This country is not worth dying for. If we're attacked, we would all go out. We'd all take whatever we had. I'd take my rolling pin and I'd beat the attackers over the head with it. But we were not attacked by Iraq.
Admittedly, Sheehan has a beef with the country, but that doesn't give Liebau leeway to be dishonest. And she has been.
