Carol Platt Liebau: Anyone Surprised?

Anyone Surprised?

RINO former Senator Lincoln Chafee intends to endorse Barack Obama. GASP! It's as shocking as if -- as if -- Joe Lieberman endorsed John McCain!

Then again, it's good news for the Obama campaign, because for those who haven't been fully aware of just how liberal Lincoln Chafee is, it feeds the perception that Barack will be able to generate support across party lines.

Carol - it probably wouldn't surprise you to learn that Lincoln Chafee also endorsed Obama on the very day that John McCain was visiting RI - the first presidential candidate to do so this election season.

Guess what got the most news coverage in the morning, prior to the visit...

Anyhow - my wife and I attended the McCain event - which had a decent, but not overwhelming turnout. The strong impression I got re: John McCain was you may sometimes not like where he stands on an issue - something he's aware of - but that he definitely takes a stand on an issue.

To think that the RNC and their senate arm wasted all that money in 2006 to save Chaffee's bacon. It is like Sen. John McCain telling Texas Sen. John Cornyn during the infamous immigration debate "F--- You!" Chaffee gave all Republicans a big "F--- You!" This is what we conservatives get when we try to support liberal or moderate Republicans. We deserve to be in the minority in both houses of congress. Oh, I guess that Chaffee had the decency to leave the Republican party AFTER he was defeated in 2006.
