Breaking for the GOP?
So this Pew poll shows that voters are breaking for Republicans in the days up until the elections -- among likely voters, it's 47% for Democrats and 43% for Republicans.
For some reason, this calls to mind the line that Mr. Rourke, the "Fantasy Island" character played by Ricardo Montalban, used to break out: "Perhaps, readers, things will not work out quite as the Democrats had expected . . ."
Of course, it's too early to know, and given the fact that the generic ballot reaally doesn't matter all that much (the composition of the House and Senate will be determined in a handful of close races) and the problems with polling, it's hard to predict any outcome with reasonable certainty.
Still, it's good news.
Perhaps people really are thinking that we don't want to vindicate Osama bin Laden's assessment of Americans as decadent, weak and unwilling to fight by electing Democrats who will want to cut 'n run in Iraq.
