Out of Both Sides of Her Mouth

In this piece, the Washington Times covers Claire McCaskill's hateful remark that the President let people die in New Orleans "because they were poor and because they were black."

What the Times doesn't point out is that the remarks were made in an atmosphere where there's reason for McCaskill to be concerned that she's in danger of losing some of the black vote.

But the Times does report McCaskill's damage control efforts -- which amount to arguing that she was merely acknowledging the sentiment of many Americans. Get it? It's not what she thinks, just what "many people" think.

It's noteworthy that she made the remarks to Pub Def Weekly, a nonpartisan political blog concentrating on the City of St. Louis, because the city is largely African-American. And so, coupled with McCaskill's explanation, it's hard to avoid the conclusion that Claire McCaskill is the kind of candidate who simply whispers to each constituency what she thinks it will want to hear . . . whether it's the rural voters in "Ashcroftland" or the African-American voters in the City of St. Louis. And she's not above a little race-baiting as she does it.

She has it about right. Bush chose to head to California to play his guitar and attend a fund raiser with the wealthy instead of making sure FEMA did its job and saved the Americans from getting eaten by their pets. And then of all things he lied about what he knew and when he knew it.

No one and I mean no human can accept the week of delay. Even Gore chartered two commercial jets and pulled victims out before Bush even acknowledged that an emergency existed.

We are too well reminded of Bush reading "My Pet Goat" like a dounce while we were all under attack on 9-11 and people where jumping to their death from the twin towers.

Yes, that's a great photo, Editor. Wasn't that taken when he spent seven minutes mesmerized by a reading of My Pet Goat?

'Hmmm...attack. America's under attack. What will Dick say we should do? I should call him. No, I don't want to seem all hyper about this. I like this story. I never had a goat. Why didn't Momma ever get me a goat? I should call her and ask.'

Oh, the ole 7 min line again. That's rich, that two buffoons like eddy and dupe-stir think they could react in a better way if they were prez. Naturally they don't feel the same about a group of Senators that J Frenchie Kerry said said stunned for THIRTY minutes upon hearing the news. Oh yeah, he wasn't president. Good one. He WAS attempting to be one though, wasn't he? You both want to see someone with a really stupid look on his face? Look in the mirror. BDS chuckleheads.

Marshall,

Kerry has nothing to do with Georgie deciding to go bikey with Lance after learning the levies might fail?

No Marshall, we don't want to see stupid but that unfortunately is what we get thanks to corporations that have convinced people like yourself that their best greedy interest is your best interest. Keep being good consumers as Ruddy says.
