Dodging a Bullet

Given its otherwise deplorable judgment, it's somewhat surprising that the Nobel Peace Prize committee didn't award the prize to former Illinois Governor George Ryan, who ended the death penalty in Illinois and is now going to jail for corruption.

Frankly, he would have been a better choice than either Yasser Arafat or Jimmy Carter.

Well, he didn't end it as much as put it on hold. The moratorium is still in effect so far. I just heard of one politico who wishes to end the moratorium. I believe it's someone after Daley's seat in Chicago city hall, rather than the lame GOP candidate for governor.
