What's Happening & What To Do

Robert Tracinsksi makes a prime point about the "proxy war" that's going on in the Middle East:

If the problem is that the Syrian and Iranian regimes seek to preserve themselves and extend their influence by supporting terrorists across the Middle East, then the solution is to end those regimes--and we should devise a military response directed at that goal.

Syria and Iran cannot be pressured, deterred, or contained, because supporting terrorists is their means of survival.

Given all of this, it's particularly worrisome that -- as the Claremont Institute's brilliant Brian Kennedy points out -- the Bush Administration, like others before it, are taking a leisurely approach to developing the missile defenses that could make all the difference in an era when powers like Iran and North Korea are developing nuclear weapons, effectively undeterred.

Britain's junior foreign office minister Kim Howells made London's most unequivocal criticism yet of Israel's offensive, in stark contrast to the line taken by Washington.

"These are not surgical strikes. It's very difficult to understand the kind of military tactics that are being used," Howells said in Beirut.

"If they are chasing Hezbollah, then go for Hezbollah. You don't go for the entire Lebanese nation," he said. "I very much hope that the Americans understand what's happening to Lebanon -- the destruction of the infrastructure, the death of so many children and so many people."

Can this Kim Howells person know the enemy Israel is fighting as well as Israeil does? Israel has been in direct conflict with these scumbags since they formed their little group. Who better than Israel to determine tactics and targets?

The United States has become so good at hitting legitimate targets (surgical strikes) and, thusly, saving innocent lives that the entire world is now measured by our success.

The entire world, that is, except for the terrorists. Did Howells have anything to say about the targeting practices of Hezbollah?

I guess Brian Kennedy is brilliant in knowing this program is worth a trillion dollars to some fine corpoarte interests and as a think tank promoting the program, there is lots of money to be made.

So far Congress has been wise to realize there are other more realistic threats.
