How to Spend the 4th
I can think of no better way to observe Independence Day than by participating in the 5K run/walk in honor of JP Blecksmith, a fine young Marine who was killed in Iraq. Like our founding fathers, he pledged his life, his fortune and his sacred honor to his country.

I am humbled by this young man's sacrifice.
What a morale boost it would be if everyone's rhetoric matched up with their willingness to sacrifice. But unlike previous wars, there is no shared sacrifice, not even with respect to paying for it.
