This is very much speculative but...
To be honest Carol, I think the 2006 election is a just a test run for the Dems.
If Hillary is nominated in '08, I think she will nominate this guy as her running mate.
I think they believe that this move will checkmate the Republican Party where they will have no room for growth, especially amongst minority groups.
Just a hunch.
