One Big Loser

This piece by Fawaz Gerges explains why Osama Bin Laden is losing the battle he started with the USA.

Since 9/11 we have:

-spent billions on security. Countless hours wasted, our feeling of nationhood

-spent trillions invading a country on faulty intellegence.

-lost thousands of American soldiers

-killed perhaps a hundred thousand Iraqi and Afgan civilians each of whom now hates us.

-Lost the respect of the world with our treatment of Iraqi prisoners.

-Lost the support of most of our closest allies in Europe.

-Lost much of South America to leftists who look at Osama as a hero.

-helped create a sense of pan-Arab opression that has pushed Osama's radical agenda to the forefront manifested in incidents such as the Danish cartoon protests.

-repeatedly failed to prevent attacks throughout the world.

-have lost freedoms here at home.

-have the executive branch claiming wartime powers and governing by fiat instead of the rue of law.

-have polarized political debate to the point where extremists like yourself on the right and left control political debate.

-still runs free along with his top lieutenant years after killing thousands of Americans and doing billions of dollars in economic damage.

-still thumbs his nose at us regularly in audio and video broadcasts.

And you say this guy is losing the battle? Maybe that helmet hair is hurting your brain.

Had the previous comments addressed any of Mr. Gerges' assertions, they might have been worthy of unscrambling. But the last sentence, a personal attack, better exemplifies the commenter's true skill. Besides cutting pasting, I mean.

We were attacked on 9-11 not from an abundance of hatred but for a profound lack of respect.

We did not go into Iraq to win any Muslim "hearts and minds". We went there to eliminate a powerful enemy who had potential, motivation, and the demonstrated will to do us harm. Our willingness to stand and die in Iraq in order to defend ourselves from those who threaten us is the reason we have not been attacked again, as the enemy through our actions has come to both fear and respect us.

My sincere desire is for you and all the looney left to continue to believe the tripe you just spouted. That's the best way to ensure the Democrats will be kept from national security responsibilies for years to come.
