Where is the Feminist Outrage?

If, as US abortion rights activists tell us, it's all about reproductive "choice," then why are feminists so silent about this report of the beatings and harassment confronted by a Chinese activist who exposed the fact that forced abortions are ongoing in his own province?

His name is Chen Guangcheng, and he (and his family) have effectively been under house arrest since last September 6.

He is a hero.

No, it doesn't follow that they could. You have not hit the nail right on the head. If either of you could back up such ridculously failed logic with some real life examples from the time in American history when abortions were illegal, I would like to hear them. Those who oppose abortion are concerned about protecting innocent lives, not government control over women's so-called reproductive rights.

I think those of us women who are truly concerned about the advancement of our gender should hijack the word feminist away from these blind fools who think that they somehow have improved the lives of women in this world by giving them the ability to kill their own children without fear of negative consequence (which is of course impossible; there will always be negative consequences to wrong choices whether they are immediate or not). So-called feminists show their true colors by ignoring stories like the one Carol linked to. A) They care more about the rights of women who wish to have abortions than they do about the rights of women who want to have children and B) they cannot stand up for a man speaking out against such terrible atrocities. When feminists say they want equality and choice do not believe them. What they really want is for men to be considered inferior and to denigrate motherhood and innate feminine qualities, thus pushing women to feel that to be successful human beings means to take over traditional male roles and to sleep with whoever you want. The problems we face in this country and world today are testaments to the sad fact that they have largely succeeded in their goals.
