"Buying the News"
It should go without saying that it's always wrong to break the law, and paying Armonstrong Williams was a completely boneheaded move. But there's no penalty to this supposed offense. What the law doesn't (and can't) take into account is that Republicans have to pay for the same kind of "myopically zealous" coverage that Democrats get for free.
You know, it's so much easier if media outlets are willing just run pieces that advance your party's agenda even at the expense of thorough reporting (e.g. last weekend's "antiwar" Cindy Sheehan protest), accuracy (Katrina/FEMA failure overhype), and even ideological neutrality (study that shows that the same economic news is reported more positively during Democratic and Republican administrations).
What bothers the Democrats about this? I thought they were in favor of spending public money to "level the playing field" . . .
Of course, Corzine has his defense, just as Bill Frist does. But as we know from watching the Democratic treatment of everything from the fiction CBS AWOL/National Guard story, to Ken Starr, to Clarence Thomas, it should be clear by now: It's not the facts that matter -- it's the seriousness of the charges.

Using similar logic, I suppose I should get the same tax deductions as say, Bill Gates or Warren Buffet. I mean its only fair! For someone supposedly versed in law your arguement doesn't hold water. But besides that, since when have republican's EVER favored a level playing field??
