Something Wonderful

As America is wont to do, the loving arms of private charity have begun to reach out to embrace the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Look here for the very generous corporate donations (Lee Scott, the CEO of Wal-Mart, was interviewed on "Larry King Live" tonight -- his company is now donating $15 million).

And here is the current total of the wonderful, generous people who have participated in the "Blog for Katrina" appeal (note that $630 has been raised through this site! The appeal continues over the weekend -- can you help us break $1,000?!!!).

As always, the heroes are emerging, as they do in any American catastrophe (HT: Hugh Hewitt). (Note: If you know of similar stories of heroism, please provide the link below or send it to me here).

And note that helping hands come from the left, as well. We're all Americans. And speaking of the left wing, the Hollywood community intends to help out, too.

(And the U.S. Senate rushed back to Washington to provide a "downpayment" of $10.5 billion of our tax money to help, as well).

At least 22 foreign countries have also offered aid.

Here's the post from this site to participate in the Blog Appeal for Hurricane Katrina Relief. Any amount is welcome (and even the smallest amounts are blessed) -- and to any cause (a long list is at Instapundit). Thanks and God bless you for your generosity.

Great stuff, per normal Carol.

My appeal to give will remain at the top of the page on my blog....This will be a terribly long recovery, and we can't get apathetic.

PS: When you covering for Hugh again? I love him, but a lady's touch would be a good thing at this time.
