The Shape of Things to Come

So a lawsuit alleging that Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and other administration officials are guilty of war crimes is going to be filed in Germany -- itself, of course, a well-known model of restraint in warfare.

It will be interesting to see how the new majority party responds. Will its leaders stand by as leftists across the world seek a new way to limit American power to defend itself and chart its own policies?

And where, pray tell, is the lawsuit filed against Al Qaeda for its ugly and merciless murder of innocents?

Why, Carol, should American leaders be above International Law? On day America will have a tyrant in office who commits crimes against humanity and like now there will be persons who support that leader because that is the patriotic thing to do. How many thousands must die in the name of corporate profit before "nation building" becomes murder?

Are you honestly saying that all Americans are above the laws of common decency? We know We have been instructed that Our comments will go unread if personal attacks are made and that is a very good "law" for your blog that applies to all. How is it then that Slobodan Milosevic, Saddam Hussein al Tikriti, and Thomas Lubanga can be brought before international tribunals, but US servicemen accused of brutally raping a young Iraqi girl and slaughtering her family to cover it up would not qualify?

The country club ideal that Americans are somehow better than all other humans their lives somehow more valuable is a fallacy, and that thought is also a damning sin.

All the world's children deserve adequate shelter, a full belly, fun at play in safety, and a mother to love them and a father to make them strong.

All else is hubris. All else decay.

It is called the rule of law. They believe there is evidence that the US violated it's treaties and international law.

Bush/Cheney torture was a policy destined to failure. We all know this. We know Abu Graib was the nail in the coffin of US adventure in Iraq and the plan to secure their oil.

Hey! The reports of "torture" were a lie! Those who believe it, didn't do their hemework. Shame on anyone who cherry picks the truth just to satisfy their own hatred and twisted view on our great country. I'm sick of it, enough already! You won the election, now drop it!
