John McCain is to blame for the GOP losses? Interesting -- most pundits on the left and right are placing the blame a little closer to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
I think a 'single point of failure' analysis isn't going to do the GOP any favors.
I think it is far more likely to be a case of "yes, and" rather than "no, but".
I don't believe Hewitt dismissed any other factors, he was just illustrating the level of damage done by McCain's actions. Amongst a number of smaller things done wrong, McCain's actions loomed large in their negative impact.
