Dem Gay-Baiting Redux
Over at The American Thinker, Clarice Feldman outlines the state of play in the Foley matter as of the end of today.
Just as the Democrats did when John Kerry so contemptibly raised Mary Cheney's sexual orientation, it seems likely that the liberals have underestimated the Christian right once again. Back in 2004, Kerry thought that informing those who didn't already know that Mary Cheney was a lesbian would drive down conservative turnout. As we all know, he was wrong -- and he only revealed himself as someone not averse to gay-baiting when it appeared to be in his own political interest.
Now, the Democrats are doing the same thing again, this time with Mark Foley. I don't believe the Christian right is either bigoted or short-sighted enough to vote out a bunch of Republican congressmen who knew nothing about the Foley matter simply to express their displeasure -- disgust that all of us feel -- with one congressman's appalling behavior.

Barney Frank ran a homosexual prostitution ring out of his home, and well, he's still in congress.
Studds has homosexual sex with an underage page and he gets reelected and serves for 13 more years.
Foley sends e-mails to pages, resigns in disgrace, and the Democrats want Hastert to resign!? Huh? If this had happened in corporate America, Foley would be gone, and that would be the end of it. Should the CEO resign? That's about the jist of it.
