What a U.N. Resolution Is Worth

So the U.S. and France has agreed on a draft resolution that would supposedly lead to the cessation of hostilities in Lebanon. Luckily for the progress of the war on terror (which would be aided by a decisive defeat of Hezbollah), the terrorists say they won't cease fire until the Israelis are out of their country -- and the Israelis, presumably, refuse to withdraw until their soldiers are returned.

All of it points up what a UN resolution is worth: Nothing. Think of all the resolutions directed against Iraq, and all the toothless noises that have been made about Iran obtaining nuclear weapons. The Iranians understand that the UN can be defied with impunity -- Iran even admits that it supplied Hezbollah with long range missiles. And what's the UN gonna do 'bout it? You know the answer.
