Carol Platt Liebau: Sign of the Apocalypse?

Sign of the Apocalypse?

In one of the saddest little tidbits I've ever heard, there's a blog at Jane Magazine devoted to a 29 year old girl named Sarah. What's so sad? Does she have cancer? A loved one killed in Iraq? A lifelong disability?

No. She's a virgin. At 29!!! How terrible. And so you, I and everyone else we know are supposed to be rooting for Sarah to have sex by the time she turns 30 in November, because otherwise . . . [shudder] . . . she will be a 30 year old virgin!!!

Is this really what sexual mores have come to in America? Where it's not only stigmatizing not to have slept around -- but it's perfectly okay to discuss this apparently-tragic fact not only with everyone you know, but also everybody you don't? Talk about sad . . . How does "Sarah" think she's going to feel about all this when she someday has a 13 year old daughter, and she wants to encourage that little girl to respect herself and her body?

unfortunately, she probably won't teach her daughter to respect herself and her body. Women with sexual egos are taking their young daughters into Victoria Secret and buying them thong undies. It's truly sad.

We only expected him to be a man and tell the truth, but he was obviously too afraid of Hillary finding out. If you had a wife you'd probably be henpecked too, eddy-boy. Most libs are.

Sara's pathetic. I first thought she's probably a pig, but her pic suggests otherwise. Perhaps she smells bad. I know it sounds all so chauvinistic (sp), but it's such a stupid thing to publish that I can't be respectful. I'm thinking of writing and telling her it's nice to see someone her age that isn't a slut, even though she apparently regrets it.

Well to answer your question Carol, yes.

Even your side of the politcal divide as much as you say you are not is obsessed with it. Abortion, embryonic stem cells, same sex marriage all are sex issues at their core. Moreover they are who gets to tell other people what to do in regard to sex and the social trappings thereof. Sarah is a pretty girl and this is likely more about selling magazines than anything else. I think I will nominate the paper's head of research.

What if she has no desire to have children? Would it be such a crime to say to her daughter I was a virgin until I was 29 and I was fed up with being a virgin and wanted to experience safe sex? My wife has twins on the way and I feel we will be having frank discussions about sex in stages at appropriate ages. I refuse to be a head in the sand parent. I can number a dozen "sins" greater than desiring sex without being married. And what is marriage anyway? A dying institution at best and a poorly arranged ill thought out union of incomes headed for disaster at worst.
I am amazed at the number of people like Cliff who equate the power of feminine sexuality with some sort of socially destroying cancer that is going to corrupt innocent little girls with the unbridled desire to be whores.

I imagine the church is the ultimate cure for these urges or graham crackers. I would ask Kara Beth Borden about the former, parents will have to do their own research on the graham crackers.

Cav,

Such cynicism is truly sad. I feel for the twins to have to be brought up under such a cloud. YOU are not ready for kids. I hope the missus is. Stay out of it until you get some help.

Hatred eddy? Where do you see hatred in any of my posts. Take a few days and try to find some. Condescension maybe, particularly toward you, but hatred? Not a chance. I don't even hate the scumbags trying to blow us up. I don't even hate you, you pathetic little boy. I feel sorry for you like I do for all the mentally challenged. Oh sure, it's tough to speak truth and logic to the dim, but I just figure at some point the right words will come that brings an epiphany to the likes of you. It might be a wet dream, but that's how much I believe in miracles.

For you, and perhaps Cav, it might be difficult to fathom the harm our national promiscuity has caused to among every one else, our young people. Go to any average high school and test all the girls for STD's, and you'll find it easier to count those without them. This is no problem to you guys? Look at how many are struggling with not only the usual hormonal stuff that all teens experience, but stuff like pregnancies, abortions, gender identities because of liberal moral relativism that has taught them to indulge themselves rather than discipline themselves. Yeah, there's no problem there. Lots of stuff worse than the physical, psycological and emotional damage your self-worshipping attitudes have foisted on our young. Good work with that.
