The Double Standard

How come when the Clinton White House does it, it's merely efficent "rapid response," but when the Bush White House does it, it's trying to intimidate reporters into "self-censorship"?

I don't recall Clinton claiming any newspapers were treasonous and aiding the terrorist or spying on journalist phone records.

I do recall Bush has provided canned fake news propaganda on the drug perscription plan. I don't recall that Bush set the record straight on that.

Well eddy-boy, no one's gonna sweat to much about YOUR powers of recall. As for Slick Willie, he didn't have much in the way of seditious rhetoric with which to contend.

Carol actually is distant from the talking points. She is advocating a more efficient system while Gonzales is looking for more restrictions on civil liberties and more spying....

Gonzales, further emphasizing the perceived domestic danger, stated, "The threat of homegrown terrorist cells may be as dangerous as groups like al Qaeda, if not more so.

"It is therefore essential that we continue to develop the tools we need to investigate their actions and intentions with the help of our partners, and prosecute those who travel down the road of radicalization."

One never knows when grannies for peace will use terroristic tactics.

I remember them rifling a box of FBI files, claiming talk radio was Bad for America and using the IRS as a weapon against political opponents.

Good. Times.

I remember Reagan saying he didn't trade weapons for hostages and three month later he said in his heart and mind he didn't do it but facts that had come to light suggested he had.

I remember Bush(1) saying read my lips no new taxes and after getting elected he raised taxes.

I remember Bush(1) testifying he was "out of the loop" on Iran/Contra and then his personal journal proved he had perjured himself and was deeply involved in the deal.

Of course illegal wars are fine and BJs are not because the GOP is the party of the rule of law.
