Carol Platt Liebau: Where's the Outrage?

Where's the Outrage?

The MSM reports -- no doubt with regret -- that Rush Limbaugh won't be charged for possessing Viagra that was legitimately prescribed to him, albeit under another physician's name.

Here's Rush's first-hand account of what happened, which leaves little doubt that he was set up. No big surprise there.

But I just can't help but wonder where all the civil libertarians have gone. The tender hearts, so deeply concerned about the rights and comfort of suspected (or known) terrorists, remain suspiciously silent about government officials singling someone out for unpleasant government attentions because of his views.

Surely they can't have more sympathy for terrorists than for Rush Limbaugh, can they? Hmmm.

The AP link you gave doesn't exonerate Limbaugh.

In fact, the whole "legitimate" prescription of Viagra is quite questionable.

The idea that Limbaugh was prescribed Viagra under a different name in order to protect his privacy is laughable.

If the Viagra had been prescribed under his name, then he would never have been arrested in the first place.

Also, because he was arrested then it was obvious that the entire affair would have been broadcast publically - which means, of course, that the stated reasons for having it under a different name (protecting his privacy) was never going to happen.

It is far more logical to believe that the Viagra was obtained illegally than through this particular process.

If Rush's last name was "Kennedy," no one would have heard a whisper about his meds... legal or not.

Ditto:

"... I'd say he is both a fool and a loser."

But not a convict.
