Turning on the Times

Some patriotic New Yorkers protested at The New York Times yesterday. "Freedom of speech doesn't mean you can aid the enemy in a time of war," one said. (HT for photo:

Bush & Pentagon obey SCOTUS decision!

By Demetri Sevastopulo in Washington

The White House confirmed on Tuesday that the Pentagon had decided, in a major policy shift, that all detainees held in US military custody around the world are entitled to protection under the Geneva Conventions.

You have to get Dean's new book on authoritarian conservatism. It describes your ideology to the tee.

Wow. "Dozens" of protesters. That's even more than the 15 or so Michelle Malkin managed to gather a couple of weeks ago. Really, if this article is to be taken literally, at least 24 people showed up to protest in a city that can't hold more than, say, ten million. Clearly, your side is on the march.

Reminds me of Dade County in 2000. How much did Rove pay them?

Rove didn't have to pay the upstanding citizens who rioted to stop the vote count in Florida. They've all got jobs in the Bush administration. So we're paying them.

Remember: The one use Republicans have for government is as a cash machine.

"Remember: The one use Republicans have for government is as a cash machine."

Its secondary use is as enforcer of (parts of) the Old Testament as a favor for those whose votes allow the cash machine to keep running but don't get to use it.

cash machine! guys crack me up! That's why you hate tax CUTS. Because they are only for the wealthy! Like Dean, Gore, and Clinton.

And that Clinton guy? Why did he need cash from Communist China? And Enron! Yeah, that all started during Clinton's reign of deceit.

Hillary has Cashed in okay with her politics as well.

You may choose to believe that Bush's primary fundraiser was actually a tool of the evil Clinton empire. But if that's what's required to support your unique worldview, you might want to do some serious thinking.

Hey, cool conservative kids:

You might want to do some research. We wacky guys on the left aren't big Clinton fans.

He was way too Right for us.

Of course, we rallied around him when a bunch of hacks tried to subvert the constitution to throw out an elected president. And the country did run pretty smoothly when he was in the White House. But worship him? Like you guys do Bush? Not so much. (We're not wild about Hillary, either.)

I do hate tax cuts for the rich, because I made it through second grade math, so I know that if you spend ten times as much as you take in, you go broke. Republicans used to know that, too.

But look at the bright side, guys -- there are as many "conservatives" posting on this thread as there were outside the New York Times!

I'll second that. I wasn't a fan of Clinton. Didn't vote for him in either election but he had good economic policies and not a single soldier was killed in Kosovo.

The Republicans do deserve alot of blame in turning him into a lame president and weakening Amercia by trying to impeach him for lying about, of all things, sex. Screaming rule of law, and wag-the-dog when he tried to take out bin Laden with a missile strike.

The comics where constantly portraying the Republicans in their diapers for the whining cry babies that they truly are.

One of the icons of that era for me was the sight of a big burly bumpkin in his dooley pickup truck that, in addition to all the usual anti-Clinton bumper stickers, had one that said, "Where's Lee Harvey Oswald when you need him?"

Typical. At least where I live.

Then they get the vapors when we criticize Our Great Leader. 'How can you hate America?!!!, blah blah blah...'

I would rather have Clinton's toenail clippings for a president than the current occupant.

The cronic whining party. The only thing they are strong on is corruption. Definitely not war. Bush can't even take control of one city, Baghdad. And this comes from a former Reagan supporter.

Ditto said, "And this comes from a former Reagan supporter". Where did you take a wrong turn?

It sure seems to me and those I know who were former republicans that it is the party the went wrong. I don't know a single republican any more but figure there may be some closet ones ashamed to admit it.

I don't understand terrorist hate. I don't understand Bush hate. Hate for the sake of hate? Life should be a search for serenity, not hate.

Please note the Bible doesn't say ignorance will set you free.

John 8:32

Republicans are the party of tax increases and Democrats are the party of tax cuts.

Yep. That's right.

Republicans CUT TAX RATES, thereby stimulating the economy to be more productive and actually INCREASE TAX REVENUE.

Democrats, on the other hand, RAISE TAX RATES, thereby stifling the economy and actually REDUCING TAX REVENUE.
