Headed for the Supremes
The filibuster is no more; in fewer than 24 hours, Judge Alito should be Justice Alito.
We'll be looking for him at the State of the Union tomorrow night.

Kerry’s filibuster call showed incredible arrogance. The American people chose Bush over Kerry after a campaign in which Bush said he would appoint justices like Alito. Kerry was determined to impose his will anyway by trying to prevent the Senate from even voting on Alito. Incredible!
Good point, LQ.
I hope Alito is sitting with the other Supreme Court Justices at the State of the Union Address tonight.
Poetic justice, of a sort:
Alito was confirmed 58-42. The margin sounds familiar because it is the same margin by which Bork was defeated.
I don't think Kerry's filibuster call was rooted in arrogance so much as in a willingness to step-n-fetch-it for the leftwing blogosphere and the New York Times editorial page.
