Filling Trent Lott's Stocking

How deposed Majority Leader must have loved this. The "weakest majority leader in perhaps 50 years"!? Somewhere, Lott is smiling with glee.

And as for The White House, perhaps it's another example of "be careful what you wish for."

Before Lott exhibits too much glee, he should be thankful no poll was taken. He surely would have given Frist a run for his money.

Remember Lott's voluntarily giving Daschle equal status in senate leadership? Remember his saying that Lt. Kelly Flynn, adulterous B-52 pilot, got a raw deal because she was a woman? Remember Lott telling Congressman Henry Hyde, (paraphrasing from memory) "You're not going to dump this garbage on us." when the Clinton impeachment got to the Senate?

In fact, were Frist, Lott and Dole the only three in the poll for "worst GOP senate leaders," all may well come in first.
