A Good Defense
It's about time that the Justice Department defended the surveillance program that the Bush Administration has been using to defend us against Al Qaeda.
. . . advocating American political and religious liberty, free enterprise, limited government, military strength and traditional values.

In a comment on an earleir thread, Greg wrote, "My opinion is this: If the Administration has used this tactic to spy on suspected terrorists, I'm OK with it. If the Administration has abused this tactic to spy on political opponents, etc., then I think the President should be impeached."
Just keeping a scorecard.
This week we learned the Pentagon was spying on the Quakers and various gay rights groups. The FBI, meanwhile, has been spying on PETA, the Catholic Workers Group, Greenpeace, and the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee.
One the Presdiential authorization front, George W. Bsh claimed that he only authorized the warrantless wiretapping of international calls. Unsurprisingly, the President lied about this. The NSA wiretaps also gathered and passed on information from calls that were entirely domestic.
So we have domestic spying focused on political groups and the NSA wiretapping domestic calls. Seems like we are more than two thirds of the way to Greg calling for the impeachment of the President. So much illegality exposed and it has been less than a week.
Carol writes about defending us from al Quaeda.
Heck even if the al Quaeda thing turns out to be a bust, I feel so much safer knowing that the FBI is protecting us against PETA, while the Pentagon has got those wily Quakers under watch. Nothing more dangerous than an enraged group of pacifists.
Dan M. wrote, "And as for the twisted comments of Mr. Twister, {an apt moniker if their ever was one...}, no rejoinder is necessary."
Hey Dan, rather than meaningless spewing, just point out where I wrote anything that was factually incorrect and I'll retract it. Oh, that's right everything I've written is accurate.
Why do the facts hate America?
