Politics & Miers
I don't know Andy Card, and whether he is a "friend" to conservatives or not. But over at Confirm Them, there's rampant speculation that his "moderate" fingerprints are all over the Miers nomination. To that theory, I would just note this: Whatever Mr. Card's personal political predilections, he knows the President's. Given this is true, it would be an act of the deepest political betrayal for him, willingly and knowingly, to attempt to place a person on the Supreme Court who not only wouldn't be the kind of judge the President is seeking, but who would wreak the kind of damage on the President's legacy that David Souter has created for President George HW Bush. Call me naive, but I can hardly believe that any person of honor -- liberal, moderate or conservative -- would behave in such a fashion.
Writing in Reason Online on the politics of the Miers nomination, Jeff Taylor has a different theory: Maybe "Ol' Dubya just might have a winning plan."

A winning plan to what end?
It seems that this is only a 1/2 thought being proposed at reason online.
