Carol,
This is just fearmongering.
FISA was enacted to protect Americans from the illegal actions of the CIA and FBI that had been going on for decades.
If we override FISA, where are the protections of our freedoms?
The Very Sane Woman Who Points Out the Obvious said... "If we override FISA, where are the protections of our freedoms?"
The military!
Cliff,
So the Navy and the Marines are going to block the CIA and FBI from illegally spying on law-abiding Americans?
I don't think so.
The Very Sane Woman Who Points Out the Obvious asked, "If we override FISA, where are the protections of our freedoms?"
To which Cliff answered, "The military!"
Does anyone else here remember when Americans used to make fun of countries that let their military take care of their freedom? "Banana Republic," I believe we used to snigger.
I see today that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid offered to pass a resolution to extend the Protect America Act for an additional 30 days by unanimous consent. The Republicans in the Senate shot it down.
Carol, when are you planning to post about how the Republicans are hurting national security? Oh, that's right, for Republicans this was never about Protecting America, it was about Protecting AT&T and trying to score cheap poilitical points.
